A Dream That Was Always Hers
Ask Ms. Pooja Tiwari when her love for fashion began, and she won't point you to a fashion week or a design school. She'll point you to a piggy bank.
Art and craft was always her favourite subject in school — the one she looked forward to all year. On the last day of school before every summer break, while her classmates ran home to start their holidays, she walked straight to the art and craft store with the coins she'd saved all year, and bought enough supplies to last her the entire vacation. For most children, summer meant a break from anything school-related. For her, it meant weeks of colour, paper, and paint — entirely by her own choice.
She carried that instinct through her years at an Army School, and by grade 11 — the same year she chose Science as her academic stream — it had turned into intent. She began taking formal art and craft classes alongside her regular studies. It didn't take long for her talent to stand out: her practical files were considered model files, the ones professors held up as the standard for other students to follow.
So when it came time to choose a path after school, she chose the one her results — and her heart — had already pointed to. She left Science behind and enrolled to study Fashion Designing formally.
She didn't wait to "arrive" before putting her work forward. While still a student, she began showing her collections at exhibitions, standing alongside designers far more established than she was. By 1998, not long after completing her degree, she had opened her own boutique, Elegance — and her designs were already finding buyers as far away as Kolkata.
In 1999, she married Mr. Awadhesh Kumar Tiwari. Rather than stepping back from her craft, she stepped into a classroom instead — returning to the very college she had graduated from, this time as an Assistant Professor of Fashion Designing. The student whose files had once been the standard was now the one setting it.
Life, however, had more in store.
Alongside her husband, she took on the work of building Ideal Academy, and years later, in 2015, Ideal International School — a CBSE-affiliated institution she led as Principal and Director, shaping the education of thousands of students. But even here, her eye for design never really switched off. Beyond academics and administration, she personally led the creative and visual identity of both institutions, because "good enough" was never really an option for her — whether she was designing a garment or a prospectus.
More than two decades spent designing, teaching, and building gave her something few in fashion ever get: an exceptionally sharp read on what women actually need, not just what looks good hung on a mannequin. And somewhere underneath the roles of Professor, Principal, and Director, one part of her had never really stopped waiting to be picked back up.
So she returned — not as a student proving herself this time, but as someone who had spent decades watching design, retail, and women's everyday lives up close. And a gap she recognised instantly stood out to her across Indore: ethnic wear sat at two extremes. Either too casual to mean anything, or too extravagant for anywhere but a wedding stage. Custom design existed, but it was priced for a few — not for the modern working women who simply wanted to look graceful and feel like themselves, without needing a stylist or a small fortune to get there.
That gap became Tishyaa — built on a simple belief: that true elegance is never loud. It lives in timeless silhouettes, exceptional craftsmanship, and garments that let a woman feel effortlessly graceful, never overdressed and never underdressed for the moment she's in.
True to that belief, Tishyaa doesn't chase fleeting trends. Every collection is curated, not mass-produced — sourced from celebrated ateliers and skilled artisans across India, and brought together under one refined identity that spans both ethnic and Indo-western fashion. Nothing reaches our shelves without passing through the same eye that once set the standard in a design classroom — an eye trained over more than two decades to recognise real craftsmanship the moment it's in front of her.
We don't believe in just selling clothes — we believe in guiding a decision, the way Ms. Tiwari once guided her students: honestly, patiently, and with a trained eye for what will actually suit you, not just what will sell. Quality was never something we chose to prioritise. It's the only standard she has ever known how to work to.
